Moving from WSUS updates to SCCM; need help

We are in the process of moving to a SCCM 2007 for software updates. I am reviewing the otehr articles in the forum but wanted to post my own questions/concerns. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Current environment:

SCCM installed, topology setup but no updates synched and the only clients are on workstations and a handful of test servers.

A wsus box in each AD site (2008, built in WSUS)

SCCM VM lives in a data center with MPLS links to each AD site. Has seperate SQL box.

All the current WSUS servers are shown in the SITE SEREVRS of the SCCM console except the 'top' box they all pull updates from.

I'm working through a book and the SuperFlow for updates. We want to be able to push updates to servers and get reports about success failure across the enviornment.

the client installs look pretty quick and didn't require a reboot on the servers. Are there any gotchas on this? Has anyone had major issues with client pushes?

I'm confused about how the WSUS ties into the SCCM and what happens with the updates it already has on it.

I'd like to know more about the issues of moving to 2012 SCCM...? Anyone done it and have a report?

How difficult is it to make update packages for servers? Workstations? How about non MS software?

Is there a documented way to go form WSUS to SCCM for updates so I don;t reinvent the wheel?

Thanks again!
